资源简介:
This dataset accompanies the scientific research project "Between Human Dignity and Security", which investigates how citizens and elites respond to migration and refugee reception policies in the aftermath of a humanitarian crisis. Specifically, the study explores under what conditions both groups support the creation of refugee hosting facilities in their area, what types of facilities they prefer, and the underlying concerns that shape their preferences—particularly with respect to ideology and elite status. The research focuses on Greece as a critical European case, drawing on original data from a nationally representative survey of 5,916 citizens and 586 elites. The survey includes both structured questions and open-ended responses. Using a combination of experimental and text analysis methods, our results show that there are strong preferences for national level control and containment when it comes to issues of migration and refugee reception after crisis. Additionally, counter-crisis policies generate critical axes of polarization regarding the importance of asylum-seekers’ human dignity and the extent to which migration is considered a security issue. These axes of polarization are more pronounced among citizens than elites. This entry includes all relevant data and replication materials needed to reproduce the figures and tables presented in the paper and appendices.
