Analysis of differential genes in the intestinal epithelial cell from M. tuberculosis-treated mice

The pathogenic organism Mycobacterium tuberculosis could act as a strong nonspecific immunopotentiator, generating beneficial effects on some disease pathogeneses. We used DNA microarrays to analyze gene expression profiles in the intestinal epithelial cells from M. tuberculosis-treated mice and identified distinct classes of 124 upregulated genes and 107 downregulated genes. A pooled sample was prepared for each group by mixing equal quantities of total RNA from individuals (n=5) in each group in order to have the same amount of biological diversity within each pooled RNA sample.
