UNER TAN SYNDROME

"The Uner Tan syndrome is recently identified, and uniquely different neurological disorder" (Guertin, 2013). Actually, the first quadruped man was discovered in Turkey and described in Childs' book in 1917. Nearly 100 years later a consanguineous family with 19 children, 6 of them xhibiting a novel syndrome with habitual quadrupedal locomotion, mental retardation, and dysarthric speech with truncal ataxia was reported for the first time in the scientific literature and proposed as UNER TAN syndrome (Tan, 2005, 2006), which sparked a world-wide interest. Since then 8 more families with the syndrome were discovered in various parts of Turkey.
