Comparative genome sequencing ESBL producing Escherichia coli isolated from humans, animals, and the environment

This project involves whole genome sequencing of extended spectrum beta lactamase (ESBL) producing Escherichia coli isolates obtained from human, animal, and environmental sources. The study aims to characterize the genomic diversity, antimicrobial resistance genes, and potential transmission links among isolates across different ecological niches. Comparative genomic analysis will help elucidate the dissemination of ESBL genes and mobile genetic elements within and between sectors of the One Health continuum. The data generated will contribute to global surveillance efforts and support strategies for controlling antimicrobial resistance.
