Time lapse movie showing mitosis and cleavage in fertilized eggs of the jellyfish Halistaura cellularia. The use of polarizing microscopy reveals the mitotic spindles, which are seen in bright or dark contrast depending on their orientation with respect to the polarized illumination. Nuclei are not evident during interphase.
