Giving Australia 2016: Charities and nonprofit organisations survey

Giving Australia 2016 collected comprehensive information from individuals, charitable organisations, philanthropists and businesses in Australia about their giving and volunteering behaviours, attitudes and trends. This study built on information gathered through Giving Australia 2005. This data set includes the anonymised Giving Australia 2016 Charities and nonprofit organisations survey giving survey data. Along with the interviews and focus groups, the survey contributed to answering the following research questions: How are giving and volunteering behaviours changing over time including the use of innovative giving and volunteering platforms? What are the opportunities to grow levels of giving and volunteering among individuals and business? How is the not-for-profit sector’s ability to raise revenue being affected by changes in patterns of giving and volunteering? To what extent are different sectors including arts, community services, environment, health, education etc. changing their fundraising approaches in response to changing patterns of giving and volunteering? What does information about changing patterns of giving and volunteering in 2016 tell us about the future of philanthropy in Australia?
