The Galaxy Cluster Mass-Tx Relation at High Redshift

We propose to obtain ACIS and EPIC observations of an Xray selected cluster ofgalaxies from the ROSAT Distant Cluster Survey (RDCS). From the combined Chandraand Newton data we will determine the Xray temperature (Tx) of the intraclustergas, thus completing our measurement of Tx for all 10 z>0.8 clusters found inthe RDCS. We will use these combined observations to achieve the followingscience goals: 1) determine the temperature function for a complete sample of 10clusters in the RDCS with z>0.8, and 2) calibrate the cluster total massTxrelation at these high redshifs. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
