*A novel approach utilizing electrically-conductive membranes (ECMs) for the electrosorptive separation of proteins (BSA and LYZ).
*We highlight the mechanisms of protein electrosorption on ECMs and demonstrate their potential in adsorptive applications.
*The study calculates interfacial force values and discusses the strength of electrostatic interactions using XDLVO calculations.
* We validate the calculations through static adsorption experiments under various degrees of double-layer screening, i.e. various pH and ionic strengths.
*The electrosorption of both proteins is reversible and closely linked to the surface charge.
*Separation factors can be modulated in favor of either protein (BSA or LYZ) by application of different electrical potentials.
