Patterns and Predictors of Medication Related and Clinical Outcomes in Myocardial Infarction and Atrial Fibrillation

Myocardial infarction and atrial fibrillation are among the most common types of heart disease. Both conditions rely on the use of medications to reduce risks and improve symptoms. Remoteness can reduce access to care and is an important consideration to make given 30% of Australians live in regional and rural populations. This thesis shows medication use or outcomes like cardiovascular death were not affected by how far a person lives from a capital city. This thesis also showed how a regionally based AF clinic improved medication use and had high levels of patient satisfaction with their care.
