Data: Assessing the impact of urbanization on grasshopper behavior – a fieldwork approach
收藏资源简介:
This dataset contains the raw behavioral data and R analysis script accompanying the manuscript "Assessing the impact of urbanization on grasshopper behavior – a fieldwork approach" published in the Journal of Applied Entomology. The study investigated boldness-related and exploratory behavior in the grasshopper Chorthippus biguttulus across a gradient of urbanization in and around the city of Münster, Germany. A total of 126 adult males were collected from nine grassland sites categorized by urban land cover (low, medium, high) and tested in two behavioral assays: a tonic immobility (hand) test and a tunnel-based dark-room escape test. Files included: data.xlsx — Raw behavioral data including individual ID, study site, urbanization level, ambient temperature, and trial-level measurements (tonic immobility duration, escape time from the dark compartment, number of lines crossed, time to reach the end of the tunnel). R_script.R — R script for data processing and statistical analyses, including linear mixed-effects models (LMMs) and pairwise comparisons as well as figures and tables for publication.
