Суп как доогневая матрица: этимология жидкой пищи от настоев до похлёбки / Soup as a Pre-Fire Matrix: The Etymology of Liquid Food from Infusions to Pakhlyobka

This paper explores the cultural and etymological evolution of the word soup, tracing its lineage from pre-literate food practices to modern linguistic forms. Through the comparative analysis of Arabic šūraba, Sanskrit sūpa, the Slavic pakhlyobka, and Proto-Indo-European roots, the study reconstructs the semantic and phonetic journey of liquid nourishment. It argues that the earliest soups required neither fire nor metal, emerging instead through the rehydration of dried bread in water, milk, or herbal infusions. The study is accompanied by original illustrations, cartographic sketches, and a typology of pre-fire cuisine.
