Size 9 in. by 51/2 in.; foll. 199. Fourteen lines in a page. A work on religious duties, especially prayer, entitled منهاج الصلاح فی اختصار المصباح, by Ḥasan b. Yûsuf IBN AL-MUṬAHHAR ḤILLÎ (a Shî’ite, d. A.H. 726). It is an abridgement of Abu Ja’far Ṭûsî’s (d. A.H. 460) مصباح المتهجّد,2 which the author made for the Wazîr ‘Izz al-dîn Muḥammad Ḳûhadî.3 The following is an abstract of the preface: الحمدلله علی جزیل نعمائه، و جمیل آلائه....اما بعد فانّ العبد الضعیف حَسَن...یقول ان العقل و النقل متطابقان علی انّ (2.fol) کمال نوع الانسان انما هو باستعمال قوّتیه العِلْمیة والعَمَلیة...و قد کان شیخنا..ابو جعفر الطوسی ...صنّف فیما یرجع الی القوة العملیة کتاب مصباح المتهجّد فی عبادات السَنة و استوفی فیه اکثر ما ورد عن ائمّتنا المعصومین .. ثم اختصره ..فامر مَن امتثالُ امره واجبٌ..و هو المولی الکبیر و الصاحب الوزیر ....امیر الحاجّ و الحرمین الجامع للریاستین خواجه عز الملة و الحق و الدین محمد بن محمد القُوهدی..ان اجرّد بعض تلک الدعوات و اختصر ما صنّفه شیخنا بحذف المطوّلات فاجبت الخ The work contains eleven chapters: I. فی المقدّمات; II. (fol. 38v)فی ادعیة الساعات و الایام; VIII. (fol. 60v)فیما ینبغی فعله فی شهور السنة; IX. (fol. 72)فیما لایختصّ بوقت من العبادات; X. (fol. 76)فی دعوات الحوائج; XI. (fol. 184)فیما یجب علی عامّة المکلّفین فی من (sic) معرفة اصول الدین. Beautifully written. Dated Rajab, 984 [= May/June 1522 CE]. Vowels are frequently added. Titles in gold. An ornament on the first page, and gold and blue lines round the others. Benedictions on the Prophet, said to have been composed by ‘Alî Riḍa, and handed down by Ḥimyarî, and prayers for Fâṭimah (زیارت نامۀ حضرت فاطمه), are added on the last two pages. [Johnson.] 2 Cf.
