Structure of the cnidaria community in the Weddell Sea in relation to hydrographic characteristic

Scientific objectives:

-Determine the role played by cnidaria in the Antarctic
plankton-benthos ecosystem.

-Study of the composition, relative abundance and distribution of
planktonic cnidaria in the Weddell Sea and in relations with the
hydrographic characteristic using zooplankton samples taken by the
Alfred Wegener Institut.

-Study of the food-web ecology of Antarctic benthic
cnidaria.Activities carried out:Participation in the ANTARKTIS X/3
oceanographic campaign on board the RV/Polarstern. This took place
from March 27th to May 19th, 1992 in the Weddell sea.Study of the
finding on gelatinous zooplankton gathered during the ANTARKTIS X/3
campaign.

Objetivos cientificos:

-Determinar el papel que desempenan los cnidaridos en el ecosistema
plancton-bentos antartico.

-Estudio de la composicion especifica, abundancia y distribucion de
los cnidarios planctonicos en el mar de Weddell y su relacion con las
caracteristicas hidrograficas a partir de las muestras de zooplancton
recolectadas por el Alfred-Wegener-Institut.

-Estudio de la ecologia trofica de los cnidarios bentonicos
antarticos. Actividades realizadas:Participacion en la campana
oceanografica ANTARKTIS X/3 a bordo del buque R/V Polarsten. Se
desarrollo entre el 27 de marzo y el 19 de mayo de 1992 en el mar de
Weddell. Estudio de los datos sobre zooplancton gelatinoso recogido en
la campana ANTARKTIS X/3.
