Targeted enrichment of metazoan USCO loci of Pleophylla beetles

In this project, metazoan-level universal single-copy orthologs (USCOs) from scarabaeid beetles of the genus Pleophylla were sequenced by targeted enrichment. These data, together with those already obtained in an earlier study, were used to study the evolutionary history and biogeography of these beetles, which are limited to Afrotemperate forests in Southern Africa and the East African mountainous regions, shedding light on historic connections between African forest ecosystems.
