RNA-Seq was performed on Closterium peracerosum-strigosum-littorale complex under several treatment regimes. The goals of this study were two-fold: (1) assemble a reference transcriptome for use in evolutionary studies, and (2) examine changes in gene expression upon treatment with certain external signaling factors associated with symbiosis and pathogen response.
