Land at Green Hedges, Claphill Lane, Rushwick, Worcestershire (WSM49639)

In August 2013 Cotswold Archaeology (CA) carried out an archaeological evaluation for Cala Homes (Midlands) Ltd on Land at Green Hedges, Claphill Lane, Rushwick, Worcestershire (centred on NGR: SO 8192 5392). The evaluation was undertaken as a required condition of planning consent for residential development of the site granted on appeal by the Planning Inspectorate (ref. nos APP/J1860/A/12/2187934; APP/J1860/A/13/2193129) for two applications made to Malvern Hills District Council (ref. nos 12/01661/FUL; 12/00833/FUL). <br> <br> A total of eight trenches were excavated during the evaluation, leading to the discovery of an undated ditch, corresponding to a field boundary displayed on historic mapping, and a ploughing headland. No other features were identified and no artefactual material was recovered.
