Early life RSV bronchiolitis is a risk factor for recurrent wheeze (RW) and asthma. We previously reported that azithromycin (AZM) treatment reduced the occurrence of post-RSV RW. 16S rRNA gene sequencing and analysis revealed that AZM significantly decrease airway Moraxella abundance, which provides a potential mechanism by which AZM exerts its beneficial effect on post RSV RW.
