GeoArmedConflictOnset_v1

The GeoArmedConflictOnset_v1 dataset is a dataset of precise locations of the onset of each unique armed conflict (1950-2023) compiled in the UCDP/PRIO Armed Conflict Dataset (version 24.1). Each georeferencing decision is backed by authoritative and/or scholarly sources. In instances where the onset of a unique armed conflict cannot be precisely georeferenced, this dataset will provide a reasonable estimation of onset location with stated precision and uncertainty. The georeferenced conflict onsets and their locations are part of a wider project to study the causes of conflict onset using statistical methods on units of observation at the subnational level.
