This study aims to explore the performance, mechanisms, and microbial community dynamics of an anaerobic biofilm-membrane bioreactor (BMBR) for platinum (IV) recovery from synthetic wastewater. The primary objectives are to enhance the efficiency of platinum recovery through membrane modification with dopamine hydrochloride (DOPA) to improve biofilm formation and biocompatibility. By analyzing the microbial communities and key functional genes involved in the reduction of platinum (IV) to platinum nanoparticles (PtNPs), this research seeks to elucidate the bioreduction pathways and identify the dominant microbial genera and functional genes that play crucial roles in the process. The findings aim to provide valuable insights for the development of green and efficient recycling strategies for platinum-group metals, offering a novel approach for the biological treatment of wastewater containing platinum and contributing to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly recycling technology. The data submitted to the NCBI database includes 16S rRNA gene sequencing data from microbial communities in the BMBR system, which will support further research in this field.
