RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) of Streptococcus pyogenes - group A Streptococcus (GAS) S119 strain in the presence or absence of asparagine (Asn) grown in a chemically defined medium (CDM) (van de Rijn, I. & Kessler, R.E. (1980).

The study was conducted to test the global effect of Asn on the transcriptome of the GAS S119 strain. Transcriptome levels in the presence or absence of Asn of cultures harvested at OD600 = 0.7 were compared. We report here that a global differential expression of genes belonging to diverse functional categories, including virulence, metabolism, transporters, regulatory proteins, kinases, hypothetical proteins, and other categories. Overall design: A total of four biological replicates for each condition were analyzed.
