Positional Grammar Analysis of Voynich Manuscript Lines Using a Frozen Protocol: Validation Across 130 Folios and Five Thematic Sections

This repository provides the complete replication package for a positional grammar protocol applied to the Voynich Manuscript. The study tests a frozen eight-operator protocol across 130 folios, covering 393 lines from five thematic sections: Pharmaceutical, Herbal, Astronomical, Biological, and Cosmological. The protocol achieved 99.5% descriptive coverage (391 of 393 lines) with a 0.5% failure rate. All non-conforming lines are systematically cataloged under three predefined anomaly types: A1_DoubleDal, A2_DalInversion, and A3_EmptyRecipe. No post-hoc modifications were made to the protocol during testing. Repository contents: This v3.0 contains five files comprising the complete replication package: 1. **v1_frozen_protocol.pdf** Formal specification of the positional grammar protocol. Defines the eight operators, five fundamental laws, and three cataloged anomalies. This document represents the frozen v1.0 protocol used for all classifications. No modifications were applied during testing. 2. **dataset_393_lines.csv** Line-by-line classification of 393 Voynich Manuscript lines across 130 folios. Columns include: folio, line_number, eva_transcription, classification, law_applied, anomaly, notes. Covers five thematic sections: Pharmaceutical, Herbal, Astronomical, Biological, and Cosmological. 3. **voynich_v1_validator.py** Python 3.11 script for one-click replication of all results. Validates each line against the frozen protocol and outputs classification statistics. Usage: `python voynich_v1_validator.py dataset_393_lines.csv` Expected runtime: <2 seconds on standard hardware. Dependencies: none beyond Python 3.11 standard library. 4. **robustness_tests.pdf** Complete documentation and results of six validation tests performed on the dataset: a) Inter-rater agreement test b) Negative control using a randomized corpus c) Zipf distribution analysis d) Permutation tests e) Comparison with rival hypotheses f) Sensitivity analysis of operator definitions 5. **README.md** 5.
