Methanomassiliicoccales is the second most prevalent order of Archaea within the human gut microbiome. This study aims to have a better knowledge on the role and ecology of this order in this environment. It is focused on older adult gut microbiome where Methanomassiliicoccales are more prevalent compared to younger adults. Several genomes of human-associated Methanomassiliicoccales representatives were reconstructed from metagenomic data.
