The Register of Trustees was created by local Courts of Insolvency under Section 17 of the Insolvency Act 1897, and subsequently, Section 74 of the Insolvency Act 1915. It recorded those persons who had applied to be registered as qualified to be appointed to the office of trustee under the Insolvency Acts. It was a record whose details were applicable throughout the State.Included in this register were all persons who had been approved by the Local Court since the passing of the Insolvency Act 1897 with details being entered under the headings of Court (of application); Trustees name; Address; Date of Application; Date of Order for Registration; Date of Registration; Date of Order for Cancellation and Date of Cancellation.Courts of Insolvency were also required to create and maintain, if necessary, a Register of Trustees for the registration of Trustees appointed by the creditors of the declared insolvent. Such appointments were made under Section 18 of the Insolvency Act 1897, (subsequently Section 75 of the 1915 Act).
