Effect of ospemifene on vaginal microbiome in postmenopausal women with vulvo-vaginal atrophy

This study aimed to (i) compare the vaginal microbiome profiles between women suffering from vulvo-vaginal atrophy and post-menopausal healthy women, (ii) assess the effect of two different therapeutic approaches (i.e., ospemifene and systemic hormone treatment) on the composition of the vaginal microbiome, (iii) correlate the severity of vulvo-vaginal atrophy to the bacterial taxa found in the vaginal ecosystem.
