Replication Data for: Exploring two dimensions of media diet (bias and reliability) and their associations with holding misinformed health-related beliefs

These data were collected to explore the effect of the average bias and reliability of individuals’ media diets on the extent to which they hold inaccurate views about COVID-19 and vaccination. Notably, we used a novel means of capturing the (left-right) bias and reliability of audiences’ media diets, leveraging the Ad Fontes Media ratings of 129 news sources along each dimension. From our national survey of 3,276 U.S. adults, we found that participants’ average media bias and reliability scores are significant predictors of individuals’ perceptions of false claims regarding COVID-19 and vaccination.
