Processed soil property, soil-function and soil health index maps for the Czech Republic

This dataset contains the processed spatial outputs and supporting figure data associated with the study “A framework for national-scale soil health assessment integrating digital soil mapping and soil functions.” The dataset covers the Czech Republic and includes national-scale GeoTIFF maps of eight predicted soil properties: soil organic carbon, total nitrogen, available phosphorus, potassium, cation exchange capacity, pH, bulk density and clay content. It also includes three soil-function maps representing nutrient storage, availability and cycling (f1), carbon storage (f2), and support for plant growth (f3), together with the continuous soil health index (SHI) map and a supporting earthworm abundance layer. The soil-property GeoTIFFs contain three bands: (1) the mean prediction from 100 random forest bootstrap models, corresponding to the published soil-property prediction; (2) the 2.5th percentile; and (3) the 97.5th percentile of the bootstrap predictions. The latter two bands represent the lower and upper limits of the bootstrap prediction interval. The maps retain their original spatial referencing and were produced at approximately 90 m spatial resolution. The dataset additionally provides Figures 1–7, an Excel workbook containing supporting numerical data, and editable figure material. The included README and package inventory describe the files and their organization. The SHI integrates three soil functions using weights of 0.34 for f1, 0.33 for f2 and 0.33 for f3. The SHI classes presented in the associated manuscript are relative classifications derived from the mapped SHI values. The original restricted soil observations, including data from the Czech Agricultural Soil Testing Programme (AZZP), are not redistributed in this dataset.
