The World Database on Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures (WD-OECM) is a global database documenting other effective area-based conservation measures (OECMs) excluding protected areas. These measures are primarily managed for other purposes, yet they consistently deliver positive outcomes for biodiversity conservation. Maintained by the UN Environment Programme World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC), this database is updated monthly, and is used to monitor the performance of existing protected areas and identify priority areas for future conservation efforts.
