资源简介:

Pierre's Site is a Chaco Culture Archaeological Protection Site administered by the Bureau of Land Management, Farmington Field Office in New Mexico. Pierre's Site sat along the Chaco Great North Road, a built path spanning 32 of the 46 miles between Pueblo Alto near Chaco Canyon and Salmon Ruin on the San Juan River. Pierre's was larger than other North Road great house complexes and the only to boast an associated community. It was built in the first quarter of the AD 1100s as Pueblo Alto and Salmon underwent new phases of construction, at the peak of Chaco's ambitious expansion to the north of the basin. The main ruins include P-6, a great house on the valley floor, and Houses A, B, and C on the Acropolis – about 47 rooms in total. Because of its remote location, the site remained unknown to archaeologists until located by Pierre Morenon and recorded by UNM's Chaco Center in 1976.
