Field Service Postcard sent by Charles W. Carr after being seriously wounded - shot in the legs by machine gun bullets - during the the attack of the 2/5th Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment on Pond Farm during the battle of Paschendale. His family actually believed he was missing, and presumed he was killed.
The postcard was postmarked 24 Aug 1917, and a note on the card shows it was received 27 Aug at 6.15pm.
Part of large collection of photos and memoribilia relating to Serjeant 3091 (later 240965) Charles Woodward Carr, 2/5th Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment - kept by Mrs Gill Porter and Mr Tony Carr of their father.
