This study was designed to evaluate the effect on commensal microbiota of vaccination against specific antigens derived from pathogenic enterotoxigenic strains of E. coli (ETEC) but which are also conserved by most Gram negative bacteria. MipA, Skp, and ETEC_2479 are the trial antigens, EspB is a control antigen from enterohemorrhagic E. coli (EHEC), and PBS is a control. These studies may lead to the development of better vaccines against bacteria that cause diarrhea.
