Judgement on selected countries and their policies and politicians.
Topics: Most important problems of the country; attitude to the
unification of Europe and assumed chances of achieving it; evaluation
of the American attitude to the unification efforts; necessity of a
Western European defense organization and attitude to a German defense
contribution; evaluation of the relations of the country with America
and the Soviet Union; assessment of the danger of war; judgement on the
American and Soviet peace efforts; country responsible for the strained
relations between the USA and the USSR; utility of a possible
East-West-conference; ideas about the political orientation or
neutrality of the country; judgement on the success of communist or
Western powers in Europe as well as in Asia; attitude to NATO; attitude
to disarmament, to a prohibition of the production of nuclear weapons
and to the peaceful use of atomic energy; attitude to use of atom bombs
or hydrogen bombs on enemy cities as well as on front-line troops;
countries threatened by a possible nuclear war (except France);
judgement on Adenauer, Mendes-France, Eden, Dulles and Molotov as well
as general attitude to France, England, China, the USA and the USSR;
attitude to so-called ´peaceful coexistence´; judgement on the
credibility of American and Soviet world politics; supposed influence
of the communists in one´s own country; supposed dependence on the
Soviet Union of the communist party of the country; party preference;

Interviewer rating: assessment of social class of respondent.
In Great Britain the following questions were also asked: attitude to
the admission of China to the UN; desired American reaction in case of
an attack on Formosa by Red China; preferred government for Formosa;
duration of interview; number of contact attempts and contact result.
In France the following questions were also asked: perceived threat to
one´s own country from selected countries; attitude to a German
reunification; housing status; possession of vehicle and radio;
employment of domestic help.
