We sequenced samples taken from three medieval charters that originate from German monasteries in the 12th century. These documents are part of the main charter collection of the Diplomatic Apparatus of the Georg-August University Göttingen. Analysis with FastQ Screen showed that the source animal for the parchment was cattle in all three cases.
