We investigated the effect of the diet on the performance of ingested Lactobacilli in the intestine. Mice received either a plant-based diet or a high-fat refined-sugars diet. Part of the mice were healthy, part of the mice received a TNBS treatment to induce colitis. In each treatment group, part of the mice received Lactobacillus plantarum. We determined the intestinal microbiota of healthy and colitic mice receiving L. plantarum or not.
