Data and code supporting the paper "Carbon impacts of leakage from forest restoration and the costs of reducing them"

This repository contains the R code and supporting data associated with the study: Carbon impacts of leakage from forest restoration and the costs of reducing them. Preprint at https://doi.org/10.21203/rs.3.rs-9440067/v1 (2026). The study assesses how displacement of cattle production affects the net carbon benefits and costs of forest restoration in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest and Amazon, and evaluates strategies to reduce leakage through restoration site selection and cattle production intensification. The repository includes two ZIP archives: Carbon-impacts-of-leakage-from-forest-restoration-and-the-costs-of-reducing-them.-main.zip: R scripts and supporting files used to conduct the analyses and generate the results presented in the manuscript. raster_layers.zip: Spatial raster datasets used as inputs to the analyses. Further information on the analytical workflow, data sources and repository structure is available in the accompanying GitHub repository: https://github.com/franciscodalbertas/Carbon-impacts-of-leakage-from-forest-restoration-and-the-costs-of-reducing-them
