Data for article: Larval Pigmentation Reveals Environmental and Genetic Influences in Hybridizing Ambystoma Salamanders

This repository contains data and R code associated with the study “Larval Pigmentation Reveals Environmental and Genetic Influences in Hybridizing Ambystoma Salamanders.” The project investigates how parental genotype and ultraviolet radiation (UVR) exposure influence pigmentation in larval salamanders from hybrid crosses between Ambystoma barbouri and A. texanum. Using a factorial breeding design and multiple UVR treatments, we quantified skin darkness and chromatophore-specific pigmentation via standardized image analysis. The repository includes scripts for Bayesian beta regression, compositional data analysis (CoDA), ternary visualizations, and geographic mapping, enabling full reproduction of all figures in the published manuscript.
