The project's main goal was to find out how the skill training is organised in different vocations, companies and industries. The variations as well as the common features were of interest, the goal was to limit the factors that can influence successful skill training. Furthermore, the project's aim was to map the experiences the firms and apprentices has with skill training and what to improve and how to do it. The examination was made in two phases. The first sample was the apprentices (491), and the other was the firms (241). In the second phase one went deeply into the factors that were of importance in the first phase. Central actors in the skill training circle were interviewed about skill training questions, motivation, wishes for the future, well being, social relations, the people responsible for the skill training, apprenticeship examination and the relationship between school and workplace.
