This work was done by Humboldt State University Sponsored Programs Foundation in response to a Federal Government program to reduce risk to life and property by more effectively managing hazardous fire fuels. The vegetation map adheres to the 2008 National Vegetation Classification Standard (NVCS) and the Manual of California Vegetation (MCV) around 42,000 acres of the NRA land. The Association-Alliance map offers maximum classification detail with 38 classes (31 plant associations, 5 alliances, 1 Disturbed class and a Barren class), with the minimum mapping unit being 0.5 hectares.
