More than half of the compressed files attached to spear phishing e-mail attacks in Japan in 2020 were JavaScript files. A breakdown of file types attached to spear phishing e-mails in Japan shows that compressed files made up about one third of all attached files during that year. The total number of spear phishing e-mail attacks recorded by the police in Japan amounted to almost 4.12 thousand cases in 2020.
