To evaluate patterns of fungal diversity in montain ecosystems, fungal assemblages in the ecosystems are explored by DNA meta-bacording. Soil substrates including soils and plant materials are collected along environmental gradients, such as elevation, in montain ecosystems in any climatic region and fingal assemblages associated with the substrates are detected with a high throughput sequencer.
