Effect of Acanthopanax Senticosus Harms on Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease: Whole-Transcriptome Analysis in Mice

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is an excessive fat build-up in the liver without another clear cause such as alcohol use. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying NAFLD have not been fully elucidated. Acanthopanax senticosus Harms (ASH, aka Ezo Ukogi) is used for Chinese herbal medicine and a health supplement in Japan. The aims of this study were to determine changes in gene expression in the mouse liver after ASH treatment and to try to determine the molecules and pathways involved in the effect of ASH.
