Trimdinieku pūliņi kultūras laukā: pirmās latviešu Bībeles jauns izdevums 1974. gadā

The article explores the 1971 episode of renewed interest in the first Latvian edition of Ernst Glück’s Bible (1689) among the Latvian diaspora’s cultural and ecclesial circles in the West. Based on historical correspondence and archival materials, it sheds light on German bibliophile Godebert M. Reiß’s offer and the responses it generated, particularly from Kārlis Dzirkalis, Baptist pastor Adolfs Klaupiķis, and bibliophile Otto Bongs. The study highlights the symbolic and cultural-historical significance of Glück’s Bible in preserving Latvian identity in exile.
