资源简介:
The purpose of an admission register was to record basic details about children admitted to the school, and about their parents or guardians. The registers were also used to record the progress of the children through various classes and the date of their leaving the school. The remaining records in this series cover the period from July, 1918 until January, 1962. These volumes contain information pertaining to each pupil including: date of admission; pupil's name, date of birth and religious denomination; name of previous school and date of leaving. The following details are recorded about the child's parents or guardians: name, residence and occupation. The pupil's date of admission to each subsequent grade and date of leaving the school are also recorded. Provision is made to record any occupation entered into on leaving school; this last column, however, is more commonly used to indicate the school to which a pupil may have transferred, or at least the district to which they may have removed.Girls and boys are listed on opposite pages in order of admission, and numbered in two distinct sequences. In the second of the two volumes that comprise this series are transcribed all of the names of the children currently enrolled at the school. From 1946 a new numbering system was introduced with the enrolment numbers prefixed by the last two digits of the year. Distinct sequences for boys and girls are maintained until the end of 1952, but from 1953 onwards boys’ and girls’ entries form one consolidated sequence.Admission registers in paper format ceased in 1999 when the department moved to recording enrolment details in electronic format.
