Clinical Data and Anxiety Sensitivity Mechanisms in Digital Interventions for Panic Disorder: The Amindterapia Project

This dataset is part of The Amindterapia Project, a program of research on digital psychological interventions developed with support from Start-Up Chile (CORFO) and Amindterapia.com. It contains clinical outcome data from a two-arm parallel-group randomized controlled trial (RCT) evaluating Free from Anxiety (Libre de Ansiedad), an 8-week internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy (iCBT) program for Panic Disorder (PD), delivered with minimal therapist contact in a Spanish adult clinical population. Trial registration: ClinicalTrials.gov NCT02402322. The dataset supports two complementary research questions: (1) clinical efficacy — whether the iCBT program produces significant reductions in panic disorder severity relative to a waiting-list control; and (2) mechanisms of change — whether reduction in anxiety sensitivity (ASI-3) mediates treatment outcomes on panic severity (PDSS), tested via bootstrapped mediation analysis (Baron & Kenny, 1986; 5,000 resamples). Sample: 52 participants (N randomized = 95) with a DSM-IV-TR diagnosis of Panic Disorder confirmed by structured clinical interview (MINI). High real-world comorbidity: 48.1% comorbid depression, 71.6% agoraphobia, 25.3% social phobia. Measures included: Panic Disorder Severity Scale (PDSS; primary outcome), Anxiety Sensitivity Index-3 (ASI-3; hypothesized mediator), Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II), Sheehan Disability Inventory (SDI), and MINI diagnostic indicators — all at pre-treatment, post-treatment (8 weeks), and 6-month follow-up (treatment group only).
