This dataset is composed of a subset of postsecondary educational institutions such as: colleges, universities, technical schools, trade schools, business schools, satellite (branch) campuses, etc. that grant First Professional, Associate, Bachelors, Masters, or Doctoral degrees. Text fields in this dataset have been set to propercase to facilitate consistent database engine search results. The currentness of this dataset is indicated by the "date verified" attribute. Based upon this attribute, the most current records are current as of 07/31/2015.</span></p><p><span>282 point features representing postsecondary educational locations across Kentucky. The dataset includes facilities from 85 unique parent institutions distributed across 75 counties. The locations are classified by type, with Main Campuses (65) and Campuses (107) comprising the majority. Other facility types include Centers (41), Off-site Locations (38), Extensions (7), Farms (9), and specialized facilities such as research stations, laboratories, and a forest research site.&nbsp;</span></p><p><span>The dataset is nearly evenly split between public institutions (152 locations) and private institutions (130 locations). Public institutions include state universities like Murray State, the University of Kentucky, and the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS). Private institutions include liberal arts colleges like Lindsey Wilson College and various specialized training programs. Each feature includes the location name, parent institution, facility type, support classification (public/private), street address, city, ZIP code, county name, Area Development District, and geographic coordinates in both decimal degrees (WGS84) and Kentucky State Plane coordinates.&nbsp;</span></p><p><span>Verification metadata indicates locations were confirmed through the Council on Postsecondary Education, institutional websites, or direct sourcing.
