Set of raw data used for preparation of an article:Authors: Claire Malleson, Agnieszka Ryś-Jarmużek, Anna Wodzińska, Łukasz Jarmużek, Anna Gręzak, Sławomir RzepkaTitle: "After the fall of the Egyptian Empire: review of the Third Intermediate Period settlement at Tell el-Retaba"Journal: "Antiquity" 98/398 (2024)Abstract:Excavations at the site of Tell el-Retaba since 2007 have revealed an extensive settlement and associated material culture dating from the Third Intermediate Period (1070–664 BC). This work represents the only large-scale investigation into domestic archaeology from this period in Egypt and the results offer important insights into aspects of urban life for an under-studied phase of Egyptian history. The dataset contains:1. A ZIP archive titled "Antiquity_small finds_data"It contains:1.1. Photographic documentation of 9 movable artifacts illustrating various aspects of the crafts documented in the settlement, including stone querns and grinders, a bone pin, and a bronze needle. Each object is photographed from 6 sides, and the set of images is included in a folder with an artifact number (S+4 digits) according to the numbering system used by the Polish-Slovak Archaeological Mission at Tell el-Retaba. The images are saved in JPG format.1.2. The "Antiquity_small finds" in Excel and ODS format containing descriptive data about the 9 artifacts illustrated in the article. The table is the result of a query in the excavation database. It contains the following data:- Object No.- Object classification- Quantity- Texture, color, hue- Square [the site area is divided into 5x5 m squares, numbered by the coordinates of the southwest corner of the square, according to the local coordinate system, where the "0/0" point is located at the southwest edge of the site]- Bag No.- Condition- Dimansions- Description- Conservation/other notes- Area [the entire site is divided into 10 areas]- Stratigraphic Unit #- Stratigraphic Unit Type [e.g., floor, debris, dump]- Building- Room- Date [date the data was entered into the database]- Initials [initials of the person entering the data into the database]2. The "Data Table for Antiquity article" in Excel and ODS format, containing archaeobotanical data. The table's individual columns include:- Stratigraphic Unit #- Period [from the Hyksos Period to the Late Period]- Matrix phase: [a phasing system was created, designated by the letters A-G, where G denotes the newest, modern phase, and G the oldest phase, dating to the Hyksos Period]- Area- Building- Unit Type- Room- Sum of Vol floated total [archaeobotanical material, most often in the form of carbonized grains, was obtained by flotation from five-liter samples of deposits, primarily from floors, hearths, and furnace fillings]- 168 columns with names (specific or higher order) of plants documented in the archaeobotanical material at Tell el-Retaba.All data were obtained during excavations conducted by the Polish-Slovak Archaeological Mission at Tell el-Retaba between 2008 and 2021.
