Transcriptome analysis of novel nucleomorph-containing dinoflagellates

Dinoflagellate strains MGD and TGD represent two distinctive undescribed species that acquired their plastids from endosymbiotic green algae. Transmission electron microscopy observations on these organism have suggested that both of the two strains possess relic nuclei (nucleomorphs) of the endosymbiotic algae. In this project, we conducted transcriptome analyses for strains MGD and TGD in order to know whether their nucleomorphs contain genomes that are transcriptionally active.
