Anthropogenic marine noise is increasing around the world and is known to have detrimental effects on many taxa from cetaceans, right down to invertebrates, including marine mussels. Here, we wished to examine the transcriptional changes induced following a week of underwater noise exposure in the gill tissue of blue mussels, and the subsequent response to opportunistic pathogen Vibrio splendidus in control versus noise-exposed animals.
