Housing units in 2-, 3- and 4-unit buildings (duplexes, triplexes, fourplexes), their share of all housing units, and their owner-occupancy, for 83 US metropolitan areas (CBSAs) and their principal cities. Source: U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 5-year estimates 2020-2024 (ACSDT5Y2024), table B25024 (Units in Structure) and table B25032 (Tenure by Units in Structure). Every row carries the data.census.gov API URL it came from. Columns: total housing units; units in 2-unit and 3-4 unit structures; share of all units in 2-4 unit buildings; owner-occupied units in 2-4 unit buildings; owner-occupied share of occupied 2-4 unit housing; ranks; the same unit counts and share for the principal city. Rounding: percent columns are the raw ratio of the two counts on the row x 100, rounded once to 1 decimal. Limitations: counts are housing units, not buildings; margins of error are not carried; 5-year estimates describe 2020-2024 as a period; CBSAs follow the July 2023 OMB delineations.
