THE CONCEPT OF "TIME" IN THE ENGLISH AND UZBEK LANGUAGES

Abstract. This study examines the concept of “time” in the English and Uzbek languages from a linguocognitive and linguocultural perspective. The research investigates the semantic, cultural, and conceptual representations of time in both languages and identifies common and distinctive features reflected in linguistic units, phraseological expressions, and proverbs. The analysis demonstrates that the concept of time occupies a significant position in the worldview of both English and Uzbek speakers, while cultural values and historical experiences influence its linguistic realization. The findings reveal similarities in the perception of time as a valuable resource and differences in its cultural interpretation and communicative functions.
