These studies evaluated the impact of pre feeding management strategies on growth, feed efficiency, and carcass characteristics of dairy × beef crossbred steers. The first experiment compared the effect of preweaning nutritional management of dairy × beef crossbred steers on performance of calf-fed finishing performance, efficiency, and carcass characteristics. the second experiment compared the effects of post weaning management of dairy × beef crossbred steers by considering either calf feeding by placing calves directly on total mixed diets or subjecting the steers to a grazing program prior to finishing. The third experiment compared dairy × beef crossbred steers to native beef steers in a commercial production environment.
